Oedipus Brewing organizes Internationaal Bier Festival this summer!

This July the first edition of Oedipus International Beer Festival will take place in Amsterdam and it promises to become a legendary beer event. Participating breweries will be an eclectic mix of genuine Craft Breweries from Europe and the United States. Expect great beer, great food, ditto music and art against the background of Amsterdam North’s industrial heritage. In short, we are about to write beer history.

The five Oedipus faces (they have a huge team behind them these days – boys become men, even when they have a complex) have always enjoyed sharing beer with their friends and colleagues from all over the world and therefore invite the ones that really inspired them to Amsterdam. Altogether 19 breweries from eight countries will be represented by the brewers themselves. This is considered a must: sure it is cool to have the beer at hand, but with a knowledgeable crowd occupying the streets of Amsterdam these days, having the girl or boy that actually made your beer there is a must. My employer Bier&cO is a proud partner of this event, helping where we can and supporting Oedipus in this phenomenal endeavor.

Oedipus_logoSome brewers will be here for the first time! The line-up reads like a menu from a geek beer bar:
Burning Sky Brewery, Brew By Numbers, Brewdog and Beavertown Brewery (UK);
Brasserie Dupont, Brouwerij ‘t Verzet and Brouwerij Boon (BE);
Stone Brewing Berlin, Freigeist Bierkultur and Buddelship Brauerei Hamburg (DE);
Oersoep, Oedipus Brewing and Brouwerij De Molen (NL);
Upright Brewing, Stillwater Artisanal, The Commons Brewery and Cascade Brewing (USA);
Lervig Aktiebryggeri (NO); Omnipollo (SWE); Põhjala Brewery (EST).
Beer from Stone Berlin will be, for many people, their first-ever encounter with locally produced American craft beer. And it is cool to see some classic Belgian craft beer present too. One of Frank Boon’s sons will be at the festival – meet the young generation of a legendary brewing family!

Kimchi Festival, relaxing is soooo future

Great beer needs great food. Expect to find bites from the likes of Brandt & Levie, The Beef Chief, De Vrouw met de Baard, Café-Restaurant Stork, IJscobeer en Oh Na Mi Kimchi. On the Music front prep yourself for performances by local artists, bands and dj’s. Because there is more to life than beer! Party with Red Light Radio favorite dj’s and artists, Roda da Holanda – Brasil In The Brewery and Tien Son (Jungle By Night). More to come, for sure – watch the Facebook Event page.

Beer geek alert! Exclusively for the festival there will be a limited amount of bottles of the attending breweries for sale in the Festival Bottle Shop. Expect some real cool merchandise there too.

Tickets are on sale now via TICKETLINK http://bit.ly/oibf-tickets and are available as a Day pass or Weekend pass, including tokens and a limited edition tasting glass.

Now a Festival of this magnitude also requires volunteers – a lot of them. As Oedipus also hosts their traditional Kimchi Fest, here’s their call to you:

Join the Oedipus family this summer!

Do you want to be part of the Oedipus “summer of 2016”? It’s the summer in which we host Oedipus International Beer Festival for the first time, and another edition of the successful Kimchi Festival. It’s the summer in which we will try to write a little more “beer revolution history”.

For our two festivals we are looking for some enthusiastic people who want to help us out on a volunteer basis. So if you are 18+, love good beer, food and music, worship the sun and live to the fullest in a festival vibe, you might want to help us out for some hours and make this happen with us. Dates to mark in your calendar: 2/3 July and 13/14 August

What you’ll get:
-A big-fun pre-event with a beer tasting and concert
-Possibility to meet likeminded people and make friends for life
-Great beer and food guaranteed while volunteering
-Short shifts (so plenty of time to enjoy the festivals)

 So, to apply, write a short e-mail to volunteers@oedipus.com stating
– What are your volunteering qualities?
– What do you love in life?
– Why do you like to volunteer for this?
–  Age, city where you live

Cheers!
